Indo-Pak Sindhi antique double weave Khes
A khes is essentially a floor spread or bed covering which is hand woven. It has a double weave geometric pattern done by hand on a wooden loom and is reversible. A rare find.
It's in excellent condition, the only small amount of wear I can find is a small mark to one edge as shown in the photos.
Measures 205cm long total including the trim x 125cm wide with hand sewn join.
Comprising of two panels this double weave was made in Nasarpur present day Sindh in Pakistan and appears virtually unused. Khes is a general term in both Sindhi and Punjabi for a thin blanket. The manufacturing endeavour with such cotton double weaves was purportedly a British enterprise initially.
